Thank you very kindly for the offer, Jeremy.
My cost for parts alone was $70 not including labour. If I could bring the total cost down to $35? I might acquire a small fortune too.   Drinkingcheers

Seeing we are discussing car boxes, this has  been with me since 1995. It is a Plano fishing tackle box. Carries all my tools, lots of spares ,  6 cars and 2 controllers in the top lid. Has been an incredibly useful tool in itself.

Nice box there Ken,

I've shown this in the collector's thread but this is the box I use now. It has nearly all my cars in. Just a few RTRs are in another one.

Cool boxes Anthony and Gordon.  Thumbup

Everyone in our club would welcome you both. Anyone looking for tools would go to Anthony. A guy in need of a loaner might become your best friend in a flash, Gordon. See the pun there?   Cool

Camera brief cases with dividers, etc. But they would also tease each other saying stuff like "nice breadbox!" even though none of them were actually breadboxes. That gave me an idea.

I had nothing yet. Proper carrying cases were expensive. Most didn't have a nice layout for what I needed.

A store that appeals more to to my wife called "Bed, Bath & Beyond" had a cool looking bamboo kitchen bread bin on their website for about $50 Cdn.

The first thing to do would be to cover the glass. The sides of wooden shelves won't look nearly as nice as a fresh loaf of bread. A kitchen cabinet door handle was also added.

Sliders made from angle aluminum were cut and added to the inside for the upper shelves. Wooden sliders were added to the bottom for the bottom shelf to sit level.

Shelf bases were made from 1/4" inch plywood sheets. The sides of of the shelves were made from 1/4" inch x 1.5" inch strips. I measured the shelves for anything I might need at a race. Foam strips were cut and glued to prevent damage to cars, tires, or braid while in storage.

The total cost was about $70 Cdn. Plus an afternoon of fooling around. Thank you very kindly for looking.
It looks awesome for a bamboo kitchen... I love bamboo kitchen...

Hi Rebecca,

Thank you very kindly.  Sun

Something I didn't realize at first. I can leave my slot car bread box in the kitchen, and my wife doesn't care because it doesn't look out of place.  Bigsmile

Cheers,
Ken
