RE: Global Touring Cars Challenge -Rounds & Results -
Graham - 17th-Aug-26
So the SCOREBOARD has been updated.
Round 8 took and unexpected turn as we reverted to the Scaleauto Track due to weather intervention causing running issues on the wood track.
The track has many bends and is around 180 ft in length, so the runs for many cars were quite challenging, and luckily we had the Club's best drivers on board for the races.
Many thanks again to Phil, Sam and Ann for supporting the Wye Valley Round, always a pleasure visiting there.
Championship Review
Smaller Saloon Cars (Event 1)
Class A Mini type cars
Fiery1 -Hillman Imp (21pts) WINNER
Woodcote - Abarth 1000TC (16pts)
BARacing -Abarth 1000TC (14pts)
The Hillman Imp of Fiery1 managed to get through our first small car proxy Event Class, well done
Class B Small Saloons
Brumos RSR - Porsche 911 (74pts) WINNER
Demon Tweeks - Porsche 911 (63pts)
Adec C -GTA (62pts)
I think the actual last race appeared to show the 2 Porsche cars very close running, and I think the video shows that a racing incident caused the loss of time for Demon Tweeks car, so that and the 1st Round mechnical failure probably meant that the Championship finish should have been closer than it appears.
Well done Brumos RSR, another great win with the little Porsche.
Super & BTC Touring Cars (event 2)
Class C Super Touring
Modsports - Audi A4 (85pts) WINNER
Oxo Cube - Sierra (46pts)
Roadrunners - Volvo 850 Est (41pts)
Noone was going to catch this car, the Audi was in a class of its own. Well done again ModSport.
Class D Modern BTCC
73Emgee - MG-6 (80pts) WINNER
Red Dragon - VW Passat (66pts)
Bangers Racing - Honda Civic (60pts)
73Emgee MG-6 well deserved overall, but this seemed a race of contrasts between a car like the Red Dragon VW Passat, built for Plastic Tracks and the former car built for Wood tracks, the 2 cars behaved quite differently depending on which we were using.
But congratulations to 73Emgee who is our 2nd New Entrant winner of the proxy.
Larger Saloons (event 3)
Class E Muscle Cars
Roadrunners - Falcon XB (80pts) WINNER
Oxo Cube -Falcon XC (50pts)
After 2 failed Bathurst 1000 proxy attempts, Roadrunners Falcon, 3rd proxy run, finally paid off.
Class F DTM Type Cars
AdeC - Calibre (110pts) WINNER
Bangers Racing - Peugeot 406 (109pts)
Modsports - Peugeot 406 (107pts)
Could not have been closer, I think that if we had used the proposed wood track the Round 8 result the might have been different, and I was definitely planning to run a "shootout" between either 2 or 3 cars if they had tied for the Round. However the Shoot out would have taken place on this Scaleauto track, so perhaps the results would have eventually been in favour of AdeC Calibra anyway.
Very happy for AdeC Class F well deserved win, in the main it proved to be as good enough on both track types to get the win.

In conclusion, a thoroughly enjoyable series, many thanks to the entrants for providing the cars, the Club members who ran the Rounds, Royal Mail who kept the transport box in good order.
I will be sending some PSR vouchers to the Class Winners, there will be a draw this time for the Amato sponsored 3d chassis, one per Event (this will be names in a hat technique selected by my wife as it's more human than the on line random number system) Only one 3d chassis per person ( who has not won a PSR Voucher) allowed.
There is no "Spirit of the proxy" or George Turner award this time, as there was really not enough contenders.
I hope everyone who follows these proxies enjoyed the show,
Hopefully we will be back next Spring for the "Racing the 60's Proxy"

It's great to see prizes being spread around.
Take my name out of the hat for the 3D chassis draw too as I've already won something

Yes a good idea on the Amato 3d chassis, I have made that a general rule.
