 Good Morning

Dakar Review (Rounds 1-3)
well a little late but had another busy...although not quite so successful weekend at the "American Pie" slot racing event at the Corby Club.

On the small but challenging Woodland Fort Rally track the smaller Raid vehicles seemed to do better, and not surprisingly on home turf the A30 Police car did better on this Round than at the previous ones. And the AA van was in a class of its own, as the longer wheelbase Trucks struggled on this twisty curving track.

Category 1 (Ninco)
Mike's Bowler once again did well and has extended it's lead over the rivals. Chris K's  Mitsubishi just ahead of Pip's Touareg, on this Round. 

Category 2 (SCX)
Although the smaller Peugeot 405's of both Phil F and Lifeboats racing ran well on this Round, Paul C's Touareg remains in control at the front.

Category 3 (light Vehicles)
my Extreme E Odyssey has managed to outpace the field on this Round and is now leading the Category   but with the two Porsche's of MYST and James in hot pursuit.

Category 4 (Heavyweight Vehicles)
The "magical" two motor MAN Truck seems to have suffered from an electrical fault on this round, dropping its position in the category back into the timeframe of the other trucks. The AA shorter wheelbase Van however was in its element putting in a lightning time.

Category 5 (Dakar Sprint)
Chris K's Landrover really is in a class of it's own, perhaps the Ninco chassis was always going to be a dominant factor in this Category, the rest of the field are way back but quite closely matched.

So I hope to run my SCX Track Stage during this week, not quite decided on the level of difficulty which I am going to apply as yet   but should have some results by the end of the week.

 Good afternoon,

I am going to try a run of the Raid cars on the "Spen Brook" rally track, I was not planning to do it but since we are short of a Round due to illness with one of our hosts I have decided to have a go with it. I have checked and much to my surprise the trucks do get around the sharp hairpin bend at the end where the bridge goes over the river.

Additionally though, as this is an "Extreme Rally" Extreme weather is going to play a part in it 

So we have two sections modified on the track, the river has now frozen over with ice, and the up hill section at the starting end has accumulated some "Desert like" sand banks  

So tomorrow we will have a go at what could prove to be a difficult stage for everyone   I will set up my camera again to video the proceedings, unless it all goes wrong

What I really wanted to do was a “flooded river” with water but sadly the track section is just too high to prevent it running off. But that would have been great, at least for the trucks

 Good Morning 

a slight delay this morning as our neighbour is having some trees felled next door and the noise of the chain saw is drowning out any possible video recording, so hopefully will get underway this afternoon.

In the meantime I have set up some more decorative scenes on the track, and some more sand has blown in overnight making the dunes a little higher and the ice covered river crossing has become slightly larger.

That sand will be a lot of fun, until the gear teeth are gone.
