Extreme Slotting Rally-Raid The Send Scramble Part 2.
Final class was R5 The Dakar Sprint vehicles.
These all ran well on this route, I even left the pair of obstacles in place! As they were right in front of the driver station any mishaps could be marshalled quickly. Even the little Fiat Panda cleared them on 3 out of 5 laps!
An easy class victory for the Land Rover of ClassicchrisK. This is surprisingly fast, and obviously well put together. Not sure of the chassis make, but the drop arm guide works well. It slid around the bends a treat. Mike's Porsche Tractor (his description, not mine!) was next up and went really well, once you'd worked out its capabilites on the incline. It wanted to take off if pushed too fast!
3rd on the stage was the Police Austin A30, which went much better this time. Being able to keep the pace up helped it. Just back was the Ninco Porsche of Graham. A deslot on the bend before the incline didn't help, but it's fast. The Fiat Panda was steady, and just about hang on, it even cleared the SCX bridge!
The Land Rover took a comfortable class win, some 8.5s clear of a great scrap between the Porsches of Graham and Mike, who completed the podium positions. The Police whizzed around for 4th, whilst the gallant little Fiat amused to 5th.
What a varied selection of entries!

Good evening
well another thrilling Stage from Pip, i did wonder if some of those vehicles would make it up..... or for that matter, down in one piece.
But great job done
So the combined results from Rounds 1-2 are below
[attachment=30651]
The next Round will be at the Woodland Fort Club using Mikes magnificent home made rally track.
But in the meantime a little
Dakar Chat
Ninco Category R1
Mike Scotts's Bowler is back on form this year, leading the group but closely contested with Pip's Touareg having taken over Hotlaps Mitsubishi 2nd place.
SCX Category R2
Paul's Touareg has also found form after a slow start and is now leading this group of vehicles. Andy's Sandbuggy has also faired better in this Round after a very poor start on Round 1
Light Vehicles R3
Similar story for my Odyssey 21 which struggled in the last Round but now on top of this group of vehicles with the Porsches of MYST and James not far behind.
Heavy Vehicles or Trucks R4
MYST's MAN twin engine Truck seemed well ahead to begin with but the AA Recovery Van of Groundhogs is getting closer. I would have to say that my Mercedes Truck has sadly not lived up to my expectations, with the unique CNC cut fibreglass chassis I thought that this would have been a flyer but does not seem to have found it.s mojo as yet.
Dakar Sprint R5
This was always going to be a rather erratic mixture of vehicles, and it certainly is
However the Landrover based on a Ninco chassis seems to have the advantage over the rest of the field, the Porsches of mine and Mikes struggling to keep up. And the smaller Panda and A30 Police cars struggled more so on these stages.
So we will see how they all get on in the next Round.
Many thanks again to Pip for a great Round.

Well this isn't going as I expected, but hey, it's a Raid!
Obviously using a Mitoos chassis doesn't guarantee you a competitive truck. Reading how MYST developed his standard chassis, I can imagine mine might benefit with some blueprinting, or at least a closer inspection and check over. The R3 Touareg is just off the back of the equivalent R2 entries. Again perhaps I should have done a bit of blueprinting. Even just gluing in the motors for starters.
Happy with the Panda, but I think it might have to drop back to straight rallying to find competition!

You are very welcome Graham
A great weekend spent Extreme Slotting, and thank you for once again organising this excellent, and very different event.
A big thank you to everyone who entered, I enjoyed running all the different vehicles, even the "odd" ones!
Good luck with the next rounds, and best of luck to all competitors
Pip

Good Morning
Well after a great weekend away........no, not rocking along with Elton at Glastonbury, although I did drive past the area on my way to a Vintage 60's Slot car meet at Falmouth in Cornwall. Had a great time over 2 days of running everything with old style components in with a small band of enthusiasts, as old as the slot cars we ran
However I digress, the 3rd Round of The Extreme Slotting Proxy was run at Woodland Fort Club at the end of last week, so I have the results. The cars will be sent back to me this week, and I hope to run at least one or two additional stages next week.
I will post the results of the Woodland Fort Round 3 in the next couple of days.

Good Morning,
sorry for the delay but had a extremely busy week, and due to a very serious illness one of our regular hosts had to pull out, so the cars are now back to me. I will run one of my two planned stages next week before sending onto Andy P the week after who will run his Round whilst I am on holiday during the last two weeks of July.
So here is a couple of photos of the Round 3 Woodland Fort Track which was run last week.
They sent me a couple of videos, which if I get time I will attempt to post on after the results.

Thanks Graham.
Wishing everyone the best. Slot cars aren't life or death, but they are a nice distraction, especially when you get a rare podium!

Good Morning,
Some of those track sections look very interesting. Can't wait for the videos, so I can get more ideas for a "moderately" extreme rally track.
