Double Digital racing in the Low Lands
Dear Slotrace Friends
When the wind starts blowing trough the trees and the leaves are falling, when we've dumped our shorts & slippers for scarfs and raincoats...
...then the time has come to start the preparations for the Suzuka Double Digital.
For the 6th time the SRC Eindhoven will host the Dutch Digital event on the renowned Low Lands Suzuka Ninco track in their spacious club on the Sint Odulphusstraat 2b, 5682 AB Best, the Netherlands.
The 2020 event will sport a double feature with GT3 racing on the Saturday Jan 25th and the Suzuka 6hrs WEC endurance on Sunday Jan 26th.
In 5 editions the event has grown into a community of loyal teams, friends and racers. We hope to see you all return, to compete and share our hobby with us. At the same time we also hope that in the 2020 we will see some new faces on the grid. Because new blood is the lifeblood for our Passion.
The Low Lands Suzuka Double Digital is a perfect opportunity for all slotracers on the Northern European continent to try Oxigen racing in an Endurance format.

For an impression of the Suzuka Double Digital event, here's a link to the video of the 2018 WEC race

Suzuka GT3 R1 & R2 DiSCA Euro Series
Lots of downforce, grippy sponge tyres and plenty of power, as usual GT3 races will kick off the Suzuka event.
For 2020 Suzuka will host the opening rounds 1 & 2 of the DiSCA GT3 Euroseries, 2020 DiSCA GT3 rules to be published when they become available.
The event will be open for DiSCA GT3 class cars with teams of either two or three drivers.
There will be one 60 min. Timed Practice session and two 90 min. races with one mandatory pitstop of 1 minute duration.

Start grid of the 2019 DiSCA GT3 support race

Suzuka 6hrs: Round 1 of the DiSCA WEC and Prologue for the Oxigen Le Mans 24hrs:
Since 2019 the Suzuka 6hrs has become part of the DiSCA WEC where drivers can score points in one of three classes: LM P1, LM P2 and LM GT.
With the  the Oxigen LM 24hrs run under the same DiSCA WEC Sports Cars rules, it has proven itself as the perfect oppertunity for teams to test their cars for "the Big one".
With its banked corners and elevation changes the Suzuka track will bring different challenges for the teams in both set up and strategy.
Although most teams adapted their cars for Suzuka it was interesting to see that the top 5 at Suzuka all did score good results in the Le Mans 24hrs.
With free practice staring on Friday afternoon there will be plenty of time for teams to check out the track and set-up...or not...time flies when you're having fun.

Digital Debutants
New teams that would like to make to their debut in digital slot racing will be required to attend Saturdays practice session to familiarize themselves with the track and its digital features. The organisation can provide technical assistance and has several Slot.it controllers available for rent, should new teams require them.

Some snapshots taken during the 2019 Suzuka 6hrs

WEC 6hrs Endurance Hand out Materials
Teams will be hand out 1 motor at random (Flat-6 or MX-16) These motors have been tested, matched and run in by Slot.it. Should in the unlikely occasion a motor be defective, teams will recieve a new one from the organisation.
Teams will be hand out 2 pairs of N18 and 2 pairs of F22 at random. Both compounds must be used during the main race. Hand outs will be available on Saturday after registering at the race control.
Although teams are free to run their own motors and tyres (of the same type and or compound) during free practice we advise teams to mount their handouts before the end of free practice.
This way you'll be able to hit the ground running on Sunday morning. If you use this option you will have to place the parts in the Parc Ferme overnight (can also be the whole car, chassis or pod with motor rear axle and wheels)

Highlight of the 2019 WEC 6hrs race came when the track went dark for the first time. In 2020 the sun will set once again.

Entries & Registration:
Teams that want to enter this event will be able to apply via the online entry form. (see link at the bottom of the post)
The Registration for the 2020 event will open on Oct 20th 18:00hrs GMT+2 and will close on Nov 22nd.
racesEntry fees will be 80 for the WEC race and an additional 20 p/team for the GT3 support races.

The Suzuka driver rostrum only has place for max.15 teams, if by Friday Nov 22nd we have more than 15 entries we will have to make a selection on who's in and who will go on the reserve list.

Although a fast finger is important in our beloved hobby, we do not think it should a decisive factor in the registration process.
So in case a selection will have to be made, the status of the Team registration (full description of car & min number of drivers), status of entry fee payment and previous participation(s) will be amongst the selection criteria,
On Nov 26th the Src Eindhoven will select 15 teams that will be accepted for the 6hrs WEC race, with a further 4 applications to be placed on a reserve list.

Accepted entries are required to have payed their entry fee in full by December 1st, in case of non payment the first team on the reserve list will be granted an entry etc etc.
Final instructions, including the final entry list, firmware for chip and controller, and any travel considerations will be issued to team captains on Jan 5th.

I will be more than happy to answer any "international" queries here on the forum or via PM.
You can also follow the developments for the Suzuka Double Digital event via the SRC EIndhoven Facebook page

On behalf of the Src Eindhoven
with kind regards

Tamar

Dear Race friends

First of all, on behalf of the Organisation we would like to wish all of you a very good 2020, a nice double figure, so lets make it a double as good 6th edition. Below you'll find the lastest update of the Suzuka entry lists, what can I say but...wow.
Bumper grids in both WEC and GT3 with no less then 24 entries for the latter.
Additional Info and an updated program will also be included in this post.
Looking forward to seeing you all end of Januari.

Suzuka 6hrs endurance  DiSCA WEC, LMP1
So 16 entries for the WEC race on Sunday, this year LMP1 seems to be the most popular class, partially also because of entries made for the LM 24hrs.
But no complaints here.. what a nice grid of cars... most happy to see Nissan and Porsche back in 1/32 WEC LMP1. Eastcoat Exiles now carrying the Flag for Toyota with their TS 050.
Former Toyota star driver Mr Kievit is back with his "own" team fielding the "Racing Team Nederland" liveried SV Works O7 in DiSCA's LMP1 Specs.
Slotrace Friends (1) have returned to LMP1 as well going for overall and class honors with their SV Workz Rebellion R13.
Flevo slot have ditched their inline Ford GTLM and are now prepping a tried and trusted Slot.it LolaAMR. Hopeful 6 and Sports Carazing have both switched class, except them to offer more than fair competition in LMP1. And last (to enter) but not least, the welcome return from our Portuguese friends with the 3rd Olifer Racing Oreca 03.

LMP2
[Image: 50+_oreca03.png]
The growth of P1 entries unfortunately also means entries for LMP2 have dwindled to just 2 cars in the LMP 'light" class. For 2020, home racers 50+ have swapped their regular GT class and moved "up" to LMP2.
They will field the 4th Oreca 03 but in LMP2 guise. Which leaves Steven Verelst and his "Workz" team as the sole representative of the "modern" closed LMP2 coupes.
Running a new SV07  clad in TDS Richard Mille livery, he's attracted the talent of local fast runner Nick Hellmig so they will be a favorite for class and who knows even overall honors.

LM GT
Always a popular class, steady fast and competitive, some say even too competitive ( with two consecutive overall wins @ DiSCA LM24hrs)
For DiSCA the Grand Tourers should be on par with LMP2 so a small BOP adjustment has been made for 2020, 3 extra grams have been added to the minimum weights for GT (Body 22gr, Total 75gr) But still...on Suzuka, in the hands of a good driver...a good GT can be a real pain in the "buttocks" for  both classes, even LMP1.
Although with the 2020 edition and its very competitive LMP1 grid, an overall victory will become a real challenge.
So 5 GT's on the grid for this year.  Prospeed will return with their 2019 "works" Corvette C7R, they had a great run last year and an even better run at Le Mans so are definitely one of the class favorites even without Team chef and Prospeed designer Stefan Nalbach.
A second C7R will has been entered  by Slipstream, father & son v Altena and Ron Hageman make this a very good Pro/Am combination.
Ron has decalled the #50 Larbre Art car twice already, definitely a looker and my tip for taking Concourse.

NRS has risen in popularity with the release of their AMG GT3/GTD, two "Italian" Mercedes's will be entered by newcomers S-Druckt and returning SFR2.
Have not seen the SRF2 Benz yet but under the guidance of Ward Somers I expect them to do wel. SRF2 will bring a novelty to the DiSCA ranks though. Team drivers are all part of one family. I assume father, son and daughter, who will be the first female driver in the DiSCA ranks [Image: thumbsup.gif]

S-Druckt's star has been testing for some weeks now, was immediately on the pace almost straight out of the (NSR)box. All a welcome edition to the 2020 DiSCA WEC grids.
Last but not least Mission8 will try to get its project M8 finished before the start of the race ...again. But as my organizational duties come first...and sleep second...might very wel be a plan B Ford again or the old M6 GT LM again. So what else is new [Image: wink.png]

Entry list for the 6th edition of the Suzuka 6hrs
[Image: entry-list02.png]

DiSCA GT3 Euroseries
As has become tradition, the Suzuka Double Digital weekend also kicks of the DiSCA GT3 Euroseries. Here we have a staggering 24 cars entered and, with "only" 16 places on the driver rostrum, no way to run them all simultaniously..not even in digital. What can I say, the burden of succes.
To ensure that all teams can race their beloved GT3 cars and that each team will race against all the other competitors... the GT3 races will see the cars split up in 3 groups and 3 heats, where two groups race against each other simultaneously ( Gr A vs Gr B, Gr A vs Gr C, Gr C vs Gr B.) As such each team/driver will be able to score two results for the European GT3 Championship.

Note: With 24 unique cars we've run out of O2 ID numbers (max 20) So we will be issuing final ID numbers per heat on Saturday. But for the Free practice session on Friday and Saturday morning we kindly request...well actually mandate, that the teams use the same ID number issued to them for the WEC race for all their cars. GT3 and WEC.

Best behavior
16 WEC cars and 24 GT3's means a total of 40vcars that all will need to be set-up, tested and inspected during the race weekend. So upon registration/check in at Src Eindhoven you will be issued Tech inspection sheets for each car your team will enter in the Double Digital races. Please fill them in..correctly, we will not tech cars without an accompanying tech sheet. The tech sheet will also serve as a reminder for the tech rules...so no excuses of "Oh I didn't know" should your car fail tech [Image: innocent.gif]
With so many cars the track will be a lot busier than last year during free practice, and with only 16 driver positions, went it gets really busy... we will allow only one car per team on track at the same time.
Bumper grids on track will also mean busy times in the SRC Eindhoven Paddock, there are 16 pit tables available in the paddock, one will be assigned to each WEC team, regardless of the number of teams they want want to enter for GT3..so start packing and travel light. If you want to order something from the Paddock cafe, get one of the Cafe cards (€15,-)

Calculating exchange rates at the bar will not help the cue [Image: wink.png]

Trains, Planes & (Auto) mobiles
Like last year we'll do our Best (pun intended) to shuttle everybody from the airport to the club on Friday afternoon.  Should there be drivers/teams with a late Sunday evening flight out (but with a need to be rushed to the airport right after the award ceremonies) let us know on Friday. From Friday evening onwards you might be able to catch a ride with one of the club members but you'll have to make your own arrangements. Otherwise there is a very good train connection from Station Best (10min walk) two Downtown Eindhoven where most teams haven booked their Hotels.
There is no WiFi at the Src Eindhoven, but regular 3G and 4G providers and networks do cover the area. If you want to take part in the Suzuka 2020 what's app group (also very handy for communicating your arrival at the airport) make sure that you have the proper settings for roaming abroad. One of the EU benefits (at least for the Brits till Jan 31st [Image: lmfao.gif] ) is that its now just as cheap or expensive as at home. But is you have a small (mobile) bundel...I would not be streaming live vids from the race.

Firmware O2 chips, controllers and Dongle
Last but not least, get your chip & controllers up to date with the correct firmware, there will be possibilities to check and update firmware, but only at specific and limited opportunities. If you want to beat the cue, be updated [Image: thumbsup.gif]

B1: 3_01

B2 & C: 3_05

Controller: 3_04
Dongle: 3_11

Best Times
And here once more the Time schedule for the
whole Suzuka Double Digital weekend, just one minor change to the previous posted schedule.

As not all participants will attend Saturday's diner and we need to be sitting at the table before 20:00 hrs and, god forbid, we might run late...
...the GT3 award ceremony has been moved to directly after the end of the WEC Award ceremony on Sunday.

How is it going Tamar...?
Hello Borne-again and all other race friends

Sorry for the radio silence last weekend, but with a two man organization and a team to run all my (limited) multitask abilities were needed elsewhere.
Came home late last night and brain & body more or less died like a cellphone that had run out of battery.

Brain still on the charger as we speak ;)

But in this day of digits & social media...I can let them do the talking

Congratulations on what looks like a great event. I cannot imaging what goes into organising something like that.

And congratulations on the concourse win with the Jumbo car...i am a fan of the cycling team, its a great graphic! samen winnen!
That Rebellion does look very nice...

Congrats on getting the old Monkeytown Ford GT onto the second step of the podium. Will it be on the grid at Leamington Spa?

Hello Andy

After last years  LM 24hrs I made a vow to the team that the car that was ready at Suzuka would be the car we would race at Le Mans (which this year will take place at Leamington Spa)

Due to all kind of circumstances...the M8 GTE was not, so I'm strongly contemplating to
  1. Rename the team from Mission8 to Mission Wait
  2. To keep myself to my vows and race the Ford once again
But there are other options to keep my vow with out racing the Ford....

with kind regards
Tamar
The Rebellion R13 is actually an SV Works 07 clad in SV workz Rebellion decals (these were printed at the very last moment by C& C design, for which I thank Colin once again) with an DiSCA LMP1 Flat-6 AW set-up and chassis.
Just a few minor detail changes between the Oreca 07 and the Rebellion R13, although a proper dedicated R13 body is in development.
