So for years we have talked about multi protocol car decoders. Scorpius was first in 2008 with a decoder that ran on Scorpius, Scalextric digital and Ninco digital

So we have multi protocol cars but what about multi protocol tracks?
Lets say you race regularly in a Carrera digital group but twice a year you would like to run a 12 car 6  hour race, or the group has grown to more than 12 members. Now you can.
The Scorpius MPD can change lanes for Scorpius, Carrera and Scalextric digital.
Carrera lane changing is a function of the Carrera CU power base. So the decoder needs to be able to accept messages via the rails. The MPD can.
The Scorpius lane changing is a function of the car sending a wireless request. The MPD can.
The Scalextric lane changing function is a function of the cars LED being activated. The MPD can detect
LED messages also bad it runs on DC power.

So you need a decoder that has 2 photo sensors on seperate circuits and an LED. You need one solenoid driver for Scorpius and one for Carrera. MPD has it.
And for Scalextric you need 2 solenoid drivers. The MPD has that too!
All this using standard proprietary car chips for each brand.

One LED is placed on the track 12mm offset for the Scorpius system. One photo sensor is placed in the track 12mm offset for Carrera and another photo sensor is placed on the track between the rails.

No firmware changes are required.
Now your 6 car Carrera track can turn into a 24 car state of the art wireless digital system without lifting a finger.
That’s it. MPD at it again.
It’s product number 15 for the MPD as it’s a specific seperate lot of firmware.
Yet another world first for Scorpius.
One decoder that does it all.
