I've always liked the old J vans....

...and although I'm not usually a fan of retro reproductions, I think these new electric versions called the Morris JE look quite cool.

At £60,000 I doubt they'll be a common site out on the roads though.
The two-tone blue one looks super retro-cool with blue wheels and all.
They definitely need to be two-tone, conforming to the panel lines.

I can imagine a cartoon where there is the first public unveiling of the original J-van. They pull the cover and... Someone forgot the headlights!  Tappingfoot

A few seconds later, 2-guys come running out with a headlamp each and a drill. After a minute of fussing about. The gentlemen jump out of the way and together yell "Tada!". It now has headlights. They look like an after-thought. But they are there none the less  Thumbup
Heheh. Rofl

Though I think those sort of headlights would have been fairly common at that time.

Anyway, don't quote me on this, but I've downloaded some blueprints for the original, and may be considering a first venture into scratch building. Possibly, one day, perhaps.
Wow Jason, you are keen !
They are cute though.
I just checked Thingiverse but could not find an Austin (my favourite) nor a Morris J7.

Edit: Looks like an Austin version was not produced :-(
Hi Jason,

I like that funny retro look.
The recent years I have used a Nissan NV200 for transporting my rally track to the UK Slot Car Festival in Gaydon:

It could possible be the Nissan's successor, if its battery capacity would be large enough to drive from the Netherlands to Gaydon on one charge.

Hmm.....now that would be an interesting project. No balsa required - I've run out - and I reckon I could do it all in plasticard.

Might be fun. I've run out of projects for races.

Thanks Leo, I hadn't thought of Thingiverse, but I've checked everywhere else over the years, and never found a 1/32 model.

An Austin version was produced, but it was called the 101, confusingly. The only bit that was different was the front grill, and for me, it doesn't have quite the same charm.

Fancy doing one for me Gordon? Happy to pay.
